Not that long ago it was a trickle. Now it’s becoming a flood. Research after research, white paper after white paper all have the same underlying message. It goes something like this – “Hey! There’s a problem with the way organisations collect and use personal data! The sooner they deal with it, to rebuild and maintain customer trust, the better!”

European companies are shockingly unprepared for for the planned EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), with many not even aware of it.
The regulation is due to come into effect in late 2014/early 2015 and is designed to unify and simplify data protection across 28 countries within the European Union (EU). The GDPR includes a strict data protection compliance regime with severe penalties of up to 100M EUR or up to five percent of worldwide turnover for organisations in breach of its rules.
